Suits automatic machines. Roasted, untreated beans with no sugar or coating. Jura's manuals say to use only roasted, untreated beans and to avoid caramelised or additive-treated beans, which can damage the grinder.
Smooth, balanced and rich, Heart of Gold is our signature blend and the easiest place to start with Chameleon Coffee. It is made for everyday coffee lovers who want one roast that does almost everything well: chocolate, caramel and nutty sweetness in a medium roast that works as espresso, with milk, filter or plunger.
It is also the bean that comes with our refurbished Jura machine Starter Bundles, so it is a natural first bag if you are setting up a new bean-to-cup machine.
Tasting notes
Roast: medium
Flavour: chocolate, caramel and nutty sweetness
Feel: smooth, balanced and rich
How to use it
Heart of Gold is built to be the one roast you reach for every day.
Espresso and short black: the chocolate and caramel sweetness comes through in the cup.
Flat white, latte and cappuccino: a medium roast that holds its flavour with milk.
Automatic machines (Jura and similar): choose Whole Bean and let the machine's grinder do the work.
Filter and plunger: choose the matching grind when you order.
Brewing in a Jura or other automatic machine
Grind: choose Whole Bean. Jura and other bean-to-cup machines grind fresh for every cup, so you do not need a ground option.
Dose: the machine sets the dose from the strength setting you choose. Start on the default strength and move up or down one step at a time to suit your taste.
Grind fineness: leave the factory setting at first. If you change it, adjust it a small step at a time and only while the grinder is running, as your machine's manual describes.
Bean hopper: fill it with whole beans only, and keep the lid closed.

Heart of Gold FAQ
Which grind should I choose?
Whole Bean for Jura and other bean-to-cup machines, and for anyone with a home grinder. Espresso for an espresso machine without a grinder, Filter for drip and pour-over, Plunger for French press.
How long does a 1kg bag last?
As a rough guide, at about 10g per cup a 1kg bag makes around 100 cups. That is about 50 days at two cups a day, or about 33 days at three. Stronger settings and double shots use more.
How should I store it?
Keep beans in an airtight container in a cool, dark cupboard, away from heat and sunlight. In an automatic machine, only fill the hopper with what you will use in the next week or so, and keep the lid closed.
Is Heart of Gold good with milk?
Yes. It is a medium roast with chocolate, caramel and nutty sweetness, which suits flat whites, lattes and cappuccinos as well as black coffee.
